I have been looking into gaming peripherals ever since I got into Valorant and this summer I started looking into designing my own. I wish that it is designed specifically for my hand and have satisfactory gaming performance.
I looked into the prototyping process of mouse ergo design and found that a lot of the models starts with clay and 3D scanning. I tried to replicate the same design process.
I used meshroom to convert the numerous pictures of the clay model into a mesh surface. This Youtube video gave me a lot of guidance on how to do it. A lot of clean up is involved.

To make the mesh actually the shape of an aethetically pleasing mouse shape. I figured it is helpful to add lines to divide the mouse surface into thumb rest, pinky rest, mouse buttons, etc. This helped me visualize the layout of the mouse better and convert the design into geometric features in solidworks.
To be able to model this, I went on a little crash course on surface modeling and made this little knife model in solidworks.
This is the shape I ended up with for now. It is still far from a manufacture ready model, as no electronics are finalized.
